Mom Hands

So much of my identity is wrapped up in the things I do for my family that, if you ask me to tell you about myself, I'll probably start by saying "Well, I'm a wife and a mom....".I think that's true for so many women; our value is inextricably linked to the services we provide to others. With this piece, I wanted to explore the idea of identity as an object. Four of these hands, cast from my own, hold an object that will be used in the service of another person, while the fifth holds a paintbrush, the tool that I use to take care of myself. A lazy susan completes the effect, as the people I love expect quick and easy access to whatever they need from me.
